Progress Grill..........

One of my favorite places to eat is the Progress Grill. They have the very best seafood and steaks possible. Okay, that's just my opinion. But it is Harrisburg’s longest running, award-winning family owed fine dining restaurant. So obviously, others share my opinion.

It is located at:
3526 Walnut St.
Harrisburg, Pa. 17109-3618
Telephone: 717-652-7348 or
                    717-652-9844
This is one of their many dining areas. I celebrated my birthday here one year. So fun. It is run by John and Nick Karagiannis, and offers mouth-watering steaks and award-winning seafood. The brothers, immigrants from Greece, have owned and operated The Progress Grill for more than thirty years. They do take reservations, although not necessary, it is a good idea, especially for a Friday or Saturday night. Reservations can be made from 10:00am through 10:00pm. Dinner is served from 4:00pm to 10:00pm.The average check for two will average $50.-$60.not including taxes or gratuity. It also depends on how many drinks you order with your meal.
Their crab cakes and crab imperial are my favorite things to order and can't be beat any where. These items are truly the best there is.
So if you by chance visit Harrisburg, PA., stop by and treat yourself. You deserve the best.

Antelope Park.........

Antelope Park was just the neighborhood park when I was a child. We played baseball, ran relay races there at school picnics and went to dances there. It was just a really cool place to go. Then in 1955 the caretaker's wife was brutally beaten, raped and murdered near the caretaker's home. It shook our community to the very core to be sure. I give you this background because now it is a major park with a Veterans' Memorial Garden, walking paths and is considered one of the hauntings of Nebraska.
At the Veterans' Memorial Garden, people have said they feel a "presence" when they stand there. Others have said they have seen a young woman (ghost) near the caretaker's home. It is thought to be the caretaker's wife, unable to transition on. Do you believe in ghosts, "a presence", etc.? I'm not saying I do, but I'm not saying I don't. I just don't know. I have had things happen in my own life, that have certainly made me wonder.

This is the War and Victory Monument at Antelope Park. Some say they feel as if someone is watching them and there is no one around. If you feel a "presence" while visiting there. Just say a prayer for those remembered there.

Riverfront Labor Sculpture...........

I had the occasion to go to the Riverfront along the Missouri River. This is the Labor Sculpture that is really cool.  Just a close up of part of the sculpture.

This is the hot metal flowing over. I thoroughly enjoyed the visit to the Riverfront. I had been wanting to see it for several years and the opportunity came this year. I'm so lucky.

Sunrise..........

When I went on vacation, I could watch the sunrise from my window. If you know me at all, you know I love, love, love sunrises and sunsets.
The sun, after much patience, is just starting to rise. I just wanted to hurry it up a bit. But then you lose the beauty of each step of the sunrise.
My patience is being rewarded. The sun is almost starting to peek it's lovely head about the horizon.

FINALLY, there it is! The sun has risen. It was so worth waiting for. If you are not up for a sunrise, you really miss something spectacular. We have been given this beautiful sight; it's a shame to miss it.

Going to Bravo Cucina Italiana is always a pleasure and if you can go with friends it is a major plus. The first thing on my mind was their Chicken Spinach Bacon Flatbread. It is so out of this world good. Amazing  for sure.

Here are some of the other dishes that were ordered for lunch. All looked amazing and delicious. I have never gotten anything there; that was not delicious. They give large portions, so you need to be hungry when you go there. Or you can get a take home box for later or share with a friend.

Cafe Demel........

I was blessed several years ago to go to Austria. One of the highlights of the trip was seeing Vienna. One of our many stops was this lovely bakery. It had several rooms to sit and have a pastry and a cup of tea or espresso. These are some of the pastries we could choose from. All were magnificently decorated. My choice was an Apple Strudel with a cup of Espresso. How can I go to Austria and not try their Apple Strudel. It was everything I ever dreamed of; when I thought of Apple Strudel. It was sweet, crispy, luscious and full of apples and raisins. I was in pastry Heaven for sure.

The pastries above are just one of the many showcases filed with this lusciousness. There is no other way to describe the goodness that was before my eyes.Their Head Chef Dietmar Muthenthaler; must be a pastry genius to create all these wonderful desserts.  We all enjoyed his pastries so much and really, we didn't want to leave.

The Frog Bar & Grill............

Have you ever been to the Frog Bar & Grill? It's a fun place in Ocean City, MD. It is located at the south end of the boardwalk in the Inlet Shopping Village. I started there and then worked my way north stopping at all the shops along the way. By that time I was ready for a car ride.

The menu is considered  upscale bar food. The menu has appetizers, sandwiches, salads, burgers, chowders, and other small dinner options. They now have several flat screen TVs and have added a twenty foot long bar on the outdoor patio. The view from the patio is amazing looking out on the inlet.
For more information, give them a call.

Any time I am by the water, I am happy. If not the ocean, then a lake or pond will do. Water is my happy place.

Lunch at Mt. Michael...........

I went to a luncheon at Mt. Michael the other day with 24 others. We were in a small room of 5, so it was a nice cozy atmosphere with dear friends. The menu included Rose wine, Chicken Cordon Bleu, Saffron Rice, Cabbage and Kale Slaw, Herb Toast and a Lemon Poundcake with Strawberries and coffee or tea.

The cabbage/kale slaw had a sweet oil and vinegar vinaigrette instead of a mayonnaise based dressing. It was very good.

The lemon poundcake was iced and had a good lemon flavor. The strawberries were so fresh and just sweetened a little and then topped with cream. It was a most enjoyable afternoon with friends.

Louisiana Popeye's.........

Have you been to Popeye's recently? They have really good shrimp or  chicken tenders.  Check and see if you have one in your local area. For fast food, they are truly the best around for chicken tenders. At least I think so.

Here is their website if you want to check out the menu and hours of operation ahead of time.

I didn't feeling like cooking this evening, so I made a run to Popeyes. Easy, quick and very good eating. I got the combo with drink, chicken tenders, one side and biscuit. Plenty to fill me up.

The Egg & I............

Nothing like pampering yourself and going out for breakfast on a lovely sunny morning. I went to The Egg and I this morning and had a most delightful sandwich.
I had the Avocado Turkey grilled sandwich on sourdough bread. It was amazing. The place was crowded so I guess a lot of folks had the same idea.

The quality of food is excellent. The prices on the menu seemed a bit high to me, but when you saw the amount of food you got, the prices seemed much more reasonable.
If you are looking for a gift for a friend or family member, they also offer gift cards. A welcome gift to be sure.

The Egg & I that I went to, is located at:
The Egg & I
2855 S. 168th St.

Luray Caverns..........

Have you ever been to the underground caverns? Luray Caverns are located in Luray, Virginia. They are the most popular caverns in Eastern America. Guided tours are held there; taking in 1.25 miles of stalactites, ponds and stalagmites. They are absolutely breathtaking. It takes a little over an hour for the tour. I did find when I went, that I don't like being underground. So I am glad I went but I won't be going to anymore caverns. They are definitely not my thing.

The temperature stays at a constant 54F degrees so it is a bit chilly. They are located at:
Luray Caverns
101 Cave Hill Rd
Luray, Virginia 22835
Check out their website for more information, added attractions in the area  and directions to the Caverns.

Alaska......My Bucket List......

Ireland was on my Bucket List till the world got so crazy and I decided staying in my home country was much safer. So the second place on my Bucket List is Alaska. I may never get there but it is fun to dream.
I can only dream of seeing these beautiful sights. Do I want to go by plane or a cruise ship? Both offer different advantages. Do I want to be waited on or just kind of do my own thing. The latter sounds more fun and interesting to me. Then my time is my own.
Needless to say, seeing all the wild life would be amazing since I love animals. Elk, Moose, Bears, Seals and who knows maybe a Walrus. Will I ever get to Alaska, maybe or maybe not, but I can plan and dream.
